For an assessment I need to know whether this sentence is grammatical or not, please : The only way humankind stops the machines from taking over is being oneself a machine.
I based my sentence on this one "the only ways humankind stop the machines from taking over is getting a religion" that I found in a newspaper article

The only way humankind stops(awkward) the machines from taking over is being oneself(correct but bizarre) a machine.
The only way humankind can stop (prevent) the machines from taking over is by becoming themselves machines too.
The only way humankind could prevent the machines from taking over would be by becoming themselves machines too.
