Why/adjective clause
Message from mohammad51 posted on 25-01-2021 at 17:36:02 (D | E | F)
Hello everyone
Please could anyone explain why is the following clause is an adjective clause ?
Thank you in advance.

Did you like it since we made this educational quiz from the heart?
Adjective clause
Adverb clause

The correct answer according to the page = adjective clause.
So, why? Does the clause describe the noun or pronoun ( it )
I know in many cases ( since ) is used with the adverbial subordinate clauses.
But I also read in one book or more it is also used with the adverbials.
So how, could any one explain ?
Best wishes to all.

Hello
I wouldn't describe your clause as being an adjective clause because it doesn't give information about the pronoun it, probably meaning quizz, but about the whole sentence, particularly the verb like.

If you look at this link, you can see that all adjective clauses refer to a noun or pronoun.

But your sentence could be read like this :

Did you like it since we made this educational quiz from the heart ?
Did you like this quiz because we made this educational quiz from the heart ?
Did you like it as we made this educational quiz from the heart ?
Did you like it considering we made this educational quiz from the heart ?
"It" is not essential :
Did you rejoice since we made this educational quiz from the heart ?

An adjective clause would be :
Did you like that quiz that we made from the heart ?
Did you like that quiz which we made from the heart ?
Did you like that quiz that we made specially for you ?

I had to check what an adjective clause was, I wasn't used to that terminology.

Hello
I took the test and got it wrong at 8, but I think they are wrong. It is an adverb clause.

Hello
Thank you again dear teacher gerondif
I agree with you.

I read last time many books of grammar one mentioned using ( since ) in a subordinate clause \ adjective
I am really surprised ( since ) = either preposition = from a particular time or a conjunction = because
It is not common with clauses function adjective.
The most common clauses which function adjective clauses in English are the relative clauses.
I haven't found the book or two books I have downloaded recently.
I am busy now.
Best wishes
