Bonjour,
Caregivers’ stress in the critical care unit :
My memoire is about caregivers’ stress in the critical care unit. The purpose of my research is to show if the stress influence the nursing management or not.
I have chosen this subject because I did an internship in the cardiologic critical care unit in the hospital Haut Leveque in Pessac and I have seen that the nurses are much stressed. I supposed the stress can influence the nursing care.
They are many past studies about this subject and they interested me because I had ever been in this case. Some risk factors of stress were exposed in those studies, including life-threatening emergency, caregiver fatigue, patient’s and family’s suffering, the highly technical cares, conflicts in the team…
The critical care unit is the place where the objective is maintaining the life. Patients are often threatened by death. In this unit, the nurses are working with a multidisciplinary team composed of anesthetist, physicians, physiotherapist, assistant nurse, health manager…
I have wanted to show that the stress felt by the nurse can influence the nursing care.
To do this study I have drawn up a questionnaire of fifteen questions. I wanted to question the nurses which work in the critical care unit. I have distributed it in three critical care units. There have been thirty-one participants.
The answers have confirmed my hypothesis. The most important risk factors of stress are life threatening emergency, patient’s and family’s suffering and caregiver’s responsibility. According to the nurses, the stress can influence the nursing care. However, there are many ways to manage stress.
In a further next study, I possibly could consult the anesthetist or another health care professional.
Key words: stress, critical care unit, feelings, life threatening emergency, caregivers, collaboration.
Merci d'avance pour vos conseils

Bonsoir,
My memoire ('memoire' n'est pas un mot anglais - peut-etre 'essay'?) is about caregivers’ stress in the critical care unit. The purpose of my research is to show if the stress influences the nursing management or not.
I have chosen this subject because I did an internship in the cardiological critical care unit in the hospital Haut Leveque hospital in Pessac and I have seen that the nurses are much very stressed. I supposed the stress can influence the nursing care.
They are many past studies about this subject and they interested me because I had ever been in this case (a reformuler). Some risk factors of for stress were exposed in those studies, including life-threatening emergency (pluriel), caregiver fatigue, patient’s and family’s suffering, the highly technical cares, conflicts in the team…
The critical care unit is the place where the objective is maintaining the life. Patients are often threatened by death. In this unit, the nurses are working with a multidisciplinary team composed of an anesthetist, physicians,a physiotherapist,an assistant nurse,a health manager…
I have wanted(temps?) to show that the stress felt by the nurse can influence the nursing care.
To do this study I have drawn up a questionnaire of fifteen questions. I wanted to question the nurses which work in the critical care unit. I have distributed it in three critical care units. There have been (temps?) thirty-one participants.
The answers have confirmed my hypothesis. The most important risk factors of for stress are life threatening emergency(pluriel), patient’s and family’s suffering and caregiver’s responsibility. According to the nurses, the stress can influence the nursing care. However, there are many ways to manage stress.
In a further next study, I possibly could consult the anesthetist or another health care professional.
Key words: stress, critical care unit, feelings, life threatening emergency, caregivers, collaboration.
J'ai enlevé les articles définis devant les noms abstraits, car ils ne sont pas indispensables en anglais:
"the stress", "the nursing care", "the highly technical care"
