Merci d'avance
I am going to talk about the notion of myth and heroes. First of all i would like to give a quick definition of that notion. A hero is a person admired for his achievements, noble qualities and great courage. They can be fictional like Superman, Batman and others…But here, we shall be interested at hero we studied in class, Rita O Grady. It’s the main character of the movie “Made in Dagenham” who embodies the feminist movement in the 60’. Besides, heroes can be real too, they are generally people recognized for their career and their impact on the modern society, like Barack Obama, the first black president of the USA. These heroes act as a role model for the society. They serve as an example, whose behavior is emulated by others.`
Now, I’m going to focus on Barack Obama, the hero of modern times: He was born 4th 1961 in Hawaii bring up by his mother because his dad die in a car accident. He makes big studies first and foremost at Columbia College then at Harvard. Before become president he worked as community organizer, politician and statesman .In the time, there was a lot of racism in the USA, nevertheless Obama succeed to become the 44th president in 2009. He is the first African American president to be elected in the USA. In the same years he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. At the head of the country, Obama completed foreign policy goals: he ending the war in Iraq, securing nuclear weapons from terrorists and finishing the fight against Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. Moreover, he completed domestic policy goals: insuring health insurance becomes available to all and combating the effects of the recession.
Talk now about the myth of the self-made man. Myth is a theme or character type embodying an idea. Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller and Henry Heinz embodies the American dream. The three of them started from scratch. They all come from poor social background and climbed the social ladder, rose from rags to rich. They were self-made man. The first one is a millionaire, the second the leader of the Standard Oil company and the last one the leader of Heinz Ketchup industry.

PS2 : Je suis mauvais en anglais
