Bonsoir,

Myths and Heroes
Myths and Heroes are included in each country's culture. They can be imaginary or historic. We studied in class some of the England's queens : Queen Elizabeth , Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth 2. Each of them got a different image from the people. Who are these monarchs beyond the representation we've got from them? In this talk, I will try first to show you that they had different plans for England's future. Then I will study their position as female monarchs and finally I will speak about how they managed to get a private life while they had also to run the empire.

First, we studied some representations which have been comissioned by each of these queens. The first one which represents Queen Elizabeth shows an impression of power. We can see on the top hand left corner and on the top hand right corner some English victories. The queen has also her hand on a globe. Therefore we can conclude that she wants England to conquer lands. The second one is more moderated. The queen is shown as imposant. She seems more to aim to keep the empire than to grew it. The last one is shown as a simple person. She seems more close to her people than the others. Therefore, we can see that their reign's objectives are different.

Then, these monarchs are females. Queen Elizabeth was the first queen. Therefore, her accession has been seen by the people as a bad thing. She was allowed to give orders to men, which couldn't be possible for many because running the kingdom was a men job at that time. She has disturbed the tradition. Another text that we studied shows us the event of Edward's birth. His birth enabled England not to get a war. Elizabeth was born, but we can see that the people was waiting for a son and didn't care about Elizabeth. However during her reign, she has managed to show her people that she was able to run the country. About Queen Elizabeth II, who's still alive, the things have changed. Indeed, today, the succession on the throne is for the most aged child of the royal family. Boy or girl, there is no difference.

We know many things about who were the queens. But what about their private life? How have they managed to get a private life while they had also to success in politic ?

We studied in class a text about the relationship between Queen Victoria and Abdul Karim, one of her greatest friend, who was Indian. When the queen died, the successor ordered Karim to return in India. One of the reasons was that the English were feared by the India Independance. Therefore, we can see that their politic life and private life are linked. Can a queen have friends ?

Thanks to the same text, we know that the Munshi helped Victoria to understand India (by its language, its culture...), which was a English territory. Munshi was a kind of ambassador of India. In this case, Victoria was able to take good decisions for this country. Abdul Karim was living at Buckingam Palace so he could help the Queen very often.

As a conclusion, females monarchs have managed to get a major role in the England's kingdom. Each of them made England take a different way by conquering lands or just running the empire. However, their life is not so enviable because of their public life which encroach on their private life. In the future, when Queen Victoria 2nd die, the United Kingdoms will get back to a king.

Hello !

I've already corrected several ones on the same theme on this site, ... which is starting to be the same work as for the Lycée ...
Another thing : It's much too long ! So, I'll start and see for the rest when I have real time ... (I'm on HOLIDAY, you know ...!)

Myths and Heroes
Myths and Heroes are included in each country's culture. They can be imaginary or historic. Already some work to do, for you ... I'll do a little more in another post !

(continued)

Then, these monarchs are females. Queen Elizabeth 1 was the first Queen. Therefore, her accession ( boff ...)to the throne ? ,( or her becoming a Queen ) has been seen by the people as a bad thing. She was allowed to give orders to men, which couldn't be possible for many because running the Kingdom was a men job(not heard for an oral, but still ...) at that time. She has disturbed( ??) the tradition. Another text that we studied shows us the event of Edward's birth. His birth enabled England not to get a war. Elizabeth was born, but we can see that the people of England was (if you mean 'le peuple' you have to be more specific) waiting(expect) for a son and didn't care about Elizabeth. However during her reign, she has managed to show her people that she was able to run the country efficiently. About Queen Elizabeth II, who's still alive, the things have changed. Indeed, today, the succession on the throne is for the most aged child of the royal family.(very clumsy ... find another simplest way to say so ...) Boy or girl, there is no difference.

Will continue later ... perhaps !

Hi !

Thanks for giving me some help.

Myths and Heroes are included in each country's culture. They can be imaginary or historic. We studied some of the England's queens in class : Queen Elizabeth 1st, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth 2.
Each of them benefited from different image from the people. Is that better? I don't know how I could do in order to improve this formulation. How do you find it clumsy?
Who are these monarchs beyond the representation we've got from??? of ?? them? This is the problematic we have been given.
In this talk, I will try first to show you that they had different plans for England's future. Then I will study their position as female monarchs and finally I will speak about how they managed to keep a private life while they had also to run the Empire.
First, we studied some representations which have been commissioned by each of these Queens. Our teacher told us to use the verb "to commision" . Is that false?
The first one which represents Queen Elizabeth shows an impression of power. We can see in the top left hand corner and on the top right hand corner some of the English victories.
The Queen has also her hand on a globe. Therefore we can conclude that she wants England to conquer lands. The second one is more moderated. The Queen is shown as imposant. She seems more to aim of keeping the empire than to enlarge it. The last one is shown as a simple person. She seems closer to her people than the others. Therefore, we can see that their reign's objectives are different.
Then, these monarchs are females. Queen Elizabeth 1 was the first Queen. Therefore, her becoming a queen was sen by the people as a bad thing. Then, these monarchs are females. Hello again !

your sequel ...

However, their life is not so enviable because of their public life which encroach(temps) on their private life. J'ai eu de nombreux problèmes avec les balises de couleurs de correction ... Espérons que j'ai tout rectifié ...
