Hi everyone,
I still have some trouble regarding a specific form of negation. For instance when I want to say something like : "de ne PAS le faire" as in :
"J'ai décidé de ne pas le faire" . Should I say :
- I decided to NOT do it
- I decided NOT to do it
Which one is correct ?
Or in
"je vais essayer de ne pas le faire"
-I will try to NOT do it
-I will try NOT to do it
My problem is truly that according to the sentence, I don't know if I have to put the 'NOT' before 'to' or behind....
Is there a general grammar rule for that ?!
It might be a silly question but I speak everyday English and I face quite often this kind of situation and I don't even know if I make myself understood
Thanks for any reply.

Hello,
"to be or not to be, that is the question!" disait Shakespeare. Depuis, ça n'a pas changé. L'infinitif négatif est not + to + base verbale.
I have decided not to come.
I am happy not to have to cope with that.
