At first sight , there is no difference between for example and for instance . Yet , I would say 'for example' is more common use than for instance , although they do mean the same thing .
In the beginning , if you do Latin , you learn 'instare ' has become to insist . For instance might show you express yourself with more conviction . To give an example with some insistance .
