Endure/ proper form
Message from passenger75 posted on 25-10-2015 at 08:55:55 (D | E | F)
Hello,
Would you please help me fill in the blank with the appropriate form of the schema ENDURE?
..... athletes exercising in heat are prone to dehydration.
I would go for the present participle.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Exhausted athletes exercising in heat are prone to dehydration. Past participle passive meaning: athletes who are exhausted.
Enduring athletes exercising in heat are prone to dehydration. Present participle, active meaning: athletes who are enduring, training.
Well-trained athletes exercising in heat are prone to dehydration.
Training athletes exercising in heat are prone to dehydration.
Athletes can be enduring , and hardships are endured. I don't see how athletes could be "endured", except if they are getting on your nerves...
Now of course, after reading your choice of a present participle, I assumed you had to choose a verbal form. Endurance as a noun would be fine, as mentioned below

Hello!
I'm not sure I understand your question...but have you considered:
endurance athletes -- those who partipate in a sport for long periods of time

Hello,
I would use endurance. I do believe it's the perfect word for this case.
