Bonjour,
Merci d'avance.

I'm going to talk about the notion of myths and heroes in sports. But first, let's define what exactly that notion stands for.
A myth is a story that may or may not be true. These stories have great symbolic power, and this may be a major reason why they survive as long as they do, sometimes for thousands of years.
A hero is a person who is admired for his courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities It can also be a modern-day hero, a person who has performed a heroic act or simply someone that we look up to.
In sport, being a hero goes beyond performing physical feats.
We can then ask ourselves why and how, sport is so influencial in our modern society?
We will see why they have such a big influence over people, but also that sometimes athletes jeopardize their health just to catch the status of hero. And finally we will see that in our modern life, sport are that much followed thanks to the TV screens.
The true heroes are the ones who are heroic away from their respective sports, the ones who sacrifice their time, money, and sometimes even personal well-being for the betterment of others, those are the ones who are actually worthy of our admiration. To illustrate this I chose a quote from Billie Jean King. “I've never cared that much for cementing my place in history. Sports is so transitory, so ephemeral.... One lesson you learn from sports is that life goes on without you.”
And I think that's part of why Billie Jean King is so important. She was a key figure in the fight for women's equality during the 1970s. Billie was a strong woman and very focused on her goals. Which soon was to beat Bobby Riggs, a determined chauvinist who strongly believed that men were superior that women in everything, but especially sports. Her quote shows that it wasn't exactly the tennis in itself which helped her cause but the image it vehiculed. It only took 3 sets to crush Bobby over, but that much time to win what we nowadays call the battle of sexes. She taught the world that life is short and if we have the power to change things, let's not wait forever. That way, the quote of Billie Jean King has a very big positive influence over people.
But of course, some other athletes didn't take the glory path without loosing some wings and they made some bad choices for their health but also the image of the sport itself. I chose to illustrate that with a video of an interview between Lance Amstrong and Oprah Winfrey.
After years of denial, he admitted to doping. It was the final hit in an amazing tumble for one of the greatest living American sports stars. After Armstrong recovered from cancer and won the 1999 Tour De France, the cyclist was accused of dopind and he was indeed regularly taking drugs including EPO and testosterone, as well as blood transfusions. The worst part of the interview is that as Oprah asks if it at least felt wrong back or as though we was cheating, he always answered no. Lance is not alone though. There's a long list of athletes who were once on top of the mountain only to come crashing down.This document shows that some althletes are ready to do anything to be admired and called heroes, but they don't even feel bad about it. And that is how much sport can have a real bad inlfuence.
But this big outcome was only possible thanks to a unique creation, the TV. The speech of Ade Adepitan, really shows that. He told that when he was younger, he used to watch to paralympics on h is mother's TV. This moment was very sacred for him. He uses a wheelchair as a result of contracting polio as a child which led to the loss of use of his left leg. But he says “the combination of sports and TV, inspired an eleven years boy” himself. In front of the TV he would imagine doing it, runnig the 100 meters, and the 200 meters. He is nowadays a british television presenter and a wheelchair basketball player. “Brave and cutting edge TV has the power to change people’s lives forever”, that's what he says. Thanks to the TV he was able the fulfil his dreams and become a true hero.
In conclusion we can say that sport is a way to show to the world real life heroes who go behond simple practice. They have such a big influence in our modern day because we have ways to spread really fast information . But the image those sport heroes show of themsleves is only up to them. They can either inf

hello !
underlined = very clumsy!
blue = wrong
XXX missing elements!
I'm going to talk about the notion of myths and heroes in sports. But first, let's define what exactly that notion stands for.
A myth is a story that may or may not be true. These stories have great symbolic power, and this may be a major reason why they survive(tense) as long as they do(= a duration!) , sometimes for thousands of years.(yes!)
= indirect interrogative!
And I think that's part of why Billie Jean King is so important. She was a key figure in the fight for women's equality during the 1970s. Billie was a strong woman and very focused on her goals. Which ??? soon was to beat Bobby Riggs, a determined chauvinist who strongly believed that men were superior that women in everything, but especially sports. Her quote shows that it wasn't exactly the tennis in itself which helped her cause but the image it vehiculed. It only took 3 sets to crush Bobby over, but that much time to win what we nowadays call the battle of sexes. The worst part of the interview is that as Oprah asks if it at least felt wrong back or as though we was cheating, he always answered no( a verb would be much better!). Lance is not alone though. There's a long list of athletes who were once on top of the mountain only to come crashing down.This document shows that some althletes are ready to do anything to be admired and called heroes, but they don't even feel bad about it. And that is how much sport can have a real bad inlfuence.very, very clumsy!
But this big outcome was only possible thanks to a unique creation, the TV. The speech of Ade Adepitan, really shows that. He told XX that when he was younger, he used to watch to paralympics on h is mother's TV. This moment was very sacred for him. He uses a wheelchair as a result of contracting polio as a child which led XXX to the loss of XXX use of his left leg. But he says “the combination of sports and TV, inspired an eleven years boy” himself. In front of the TV he would imagine doing it, runnig the 100 meters, and the 200 meters. In conclusion we can say that sport is a way to show to the world real life heroes who go behond simple practice.
