Bonjour,
It’s after a while, by return a lot of defective pieces to the cut step, that I understood the importance of the leather’s wasting. With the help of my stitching’s chief that I wanted to answer to the question «How could be reduce the leather’s wasting?».
Firstly, I’m going to speak about shoes as objects, subject which seems to me necessary to identify the object in the aim to have a first hypothesis of resolution. Then, I’ll explain the solution.
I’m going to continue in french my presentation.
I wanted at first to identify the wasting to see at which levels of the production acting. After that, I tried to find solutions to reduce this wasting at all levels. I became aware that the task was not simple thing. I’m going to explain the solutions with more details.
The first one of the solutions is to cut the pieces according to the defects, in other words, to hide defects under the others pieces.
An other solution is to keep the cut’s pieces which have an exploitable shape to make design objects. Chance of the cut, and various forms of punch (emporte-pièces) permit sometimes to obtain differents animals’s shapes.
Finally, the third solution is to recycle all pieces which we couldn’t use and all those which are damaged as well as the wastes resulting from the cut step.
Now, I’m going to continue my presentation in french.
If I chose to work on the production, as I told you, it’s because work on the end of life is more difficult. In fact, find partners is hard because, in france, nobody has the solution.
I contacted X and X, whose their projects are present in my appendix, and they told me that the shoes’s separation wasn’t easy, but they make it. Unfortunately, they only succeeded to recycle the shoes’s rubber and not the leather.
Benjamin is working on two projects. Create leather plate and extract leather’s protein.
Because of difficulty to find partners for this project, I prefered to work on the production’s part, where I really could act. But I don’t exclude later to recycle the leather.

If I chose to work on the production, as I told you, it’s because workING on??? the end of life is more difficult.(I'm not sure I understand...)In fact, find partners is hard because, in france, nobody has the solution.

Benjamin is working on two projects. Create leather plate and extract leather’s protein.
Because of difficulty to find partners for this project, I prefered to work on the production’s part, where I really could act. But I don’t exclude later (mal placé!)to recycle the leather.
I'm no specialist as far as leather is concerned ... and I can't imagine how to "separate shoes" originally ... but I hope I helped !
